so with this ring

Candy wanders out of the dressing room with her guitar strapped to her back, a small smile on her face. The show had gone well, and she couldn’t wait to get to Diana. She saw the dark-haired woman waiting by the bar and strolled over, wrapping one arm around her waist from behind. “Hey, love."

Diana turns about as Kate’s arm wraps against her, “That was beautiful." she beams, cupping Kate’s cheeks in her hands, “Thank you for inviting me."

Candy ducks to kiss her softly. “It was for you, so. Would’ve been a bit stupid not to have asked you to come," she said. “I, ah. Were you listening to the lyrics?"

Diana laughs, kissing her back, “Of course, it was gorgeous." another kiss for luck, “I would have still loved the song if I’d only heard about it from you, and not heard it first hand. The thought that goes into it alone means the world to me, love."

Candy smiles softly, holding her closer. “The bridge, uh. Referenced a ring," she murmured.

Diana shuts her eyes with a smile, trying to think back to her song. She’d been a bit transfixed at the sight of Kate onstage alone, some of the words didn’t stick as powerfully as the memory of her voice had, “It did?" she asked softly nodding again, “It did…"

Candy shifts a little nervously. “So I saw my dad on Father’s Day. I, well. Got my mom’s ring. From him."

Diana inhales, while the conversation had alluded to this turn, the words coming from Kate made it all the more real and exciting to her, “Your Mom’s…Kate." she was smiling wide now, her cheeks feeling flushed.

Candy slips her guitar off, propping it against the bar and sliding fluidly to one knee, holding open a little box. “So, I’m not the best with words. Without music, at least. And I’m not saying we have to like, go right now and get the license, but. Diana, I love you, and. Will you marry me?"

Diana swoops down to her, her arms wrapping tightly against Kate, “Of course! You wouldn’t have to say a single word and I’d still say the same." she leans closer, kissing her firmly once more, “Yes, Kate Kane. I’ll marry you any day."

Candy coughs a happy, slightly damp laugh, kissing back. “I love you, Di."

Diana brushes a hand through her short hair, laughing along with her, “I love you, Kate."

Candy holds her close, standing slowly. “We should get out of here."Diana brushes herself off, “You said something about burgers?”

Candy nods. “I’m pretty hungry. Didn’t eat anything before the show."

Diana takes her hand, “Let’s try and fix that." as they head out of the venue, she smiles to Kate, “Did you mention this to Bette at all, or is she clueless?"

Candy runs a hand through her hair, squeezing her hand. “I, uh. Clueless. I wasn’t sure if I’d have the bottle to do it tonight."

Diana smiles wide, “Am I really that threatening?" she laughs, adding quickly, “Don’t answer that."

Candy chuckles. “Not you. Just. Putting your heart out like that is kinda scary, y’know?

Diana leans in closer, “It is…you’re right." she loosens her grip against Kate’s hand, moving her hold to around her waist instead, “It’s frightening to be on the receiving end as well, but also exciting." pecking her cheek she beams, “I’m so excited."

Candy turns to kiss her softly, hefting the guitar higher. “Me too. Bette’s going to push for a traditional Jewish wedding, just warning you."

Diana nods, “I think I can handle that…although you’ll have to fill me in on everything so I don’t embarrass anyone." bumping up against her lightly she laughs, “I would say we should get the word out, but Bette will probably handle all that, won’t she."

Candy snorts. “You think I do? I didn’t even have a batmitzvah. Should’ve happened just after-" she swallows, shaking her head. “Bette’ll probably handle everything, if we tell her and just let her go. Like a wedding-planner wind up toy."

Diana squeezes her hand against Kate’s waist, “You’d know better than me…Bette would make a fantastic wedding planner, at least for us. She could tackle it all singlehandedly if we let her." bumps against her, “Although I might enjoy helping out here and there."

Candy bumps back. “You look good in white," she said softly, kissing her again as they approached the diner. “Is here good?"

"And you look great in a tux." Diana nods, glancing over the place, “Looks delicious."

Candy smiles, shouldering in and grinning at the man behind the counter. “Hey, Frank. Two cheeseburgers?" She said, turning to check with Diana.

"Fries too?" Diana asks.

Candy smiles at her. “And fries."

Diana takes out her phone as they wait for their food, “Do I dare call Bette over this, or should I wait till we’re face to face for her to shriek about the news?"

Candy hums, contemplating. “Call her. Give her time to cool down before we get home."

Diana slides her phone away, sticking out her tongue to Kate, “I think I’ll wait actually. Don’t you want to see her face when she hears?" she holds out her hand, the ring sparkling against her finger, “It’s going to be great."

Candy reaches for her hand, kissing it softly. “It’s going to be loud."

Diana motions to Frank they’d like their orders to go as she sees him ready their meals, “That’ll make it all the more fun."

Candy huffs a laugh. “I’d like to still have eardrums after, y’know."

Diana kisses closer to her temple, “Just cover them, it’s not completely unexpected."

Candy grabs the bag with the food in, paying Frank. “True, true."
