what's wrong with you?
Mia spent most of the day making targets for the archery range she set up. Which was just a bunch of papers held together with some circles drawn on them attatched to trees. But it was better then nothing. That is when Kyle pacing around being weird caught her eye. She hesitated for a moment before walking towards him. “Hey!" she demanded pointing to him as she approached. “Am I interrupting some important conversation you’re having with yourself or something?"
Kyle jumps clearly scared for a moment as he hears Mia. He looks over at Mar’i, and Mar’i still is there with Lian and Roy so Kyle relaxes a bit. “Yep. Nope. I mean, I’m just…working some stuff out." Kyle says to Mia finally, after a ridiculously long and semi-awkward pause.
Mia stares at him for a moment and frowns. “What’s going on with you? Are you on drugs? Did you eat some hallucinogenic mushrooms out in the woods ro something?"
"I’m…no, nonono, no -" He shakes his finger at her, laughing and glancing over at Mar’i. “Noooo no, you can’t do that. You can’t do that, I’m not answering you. I didn’t eat the food."
Mia shakes her head, “Ok, fine." She just needed to know he wasn’t high or something and steps closer to him. “So you just think that we’re not us? Is that it? Mar’i said at the meeting yesterday that you didn’t think we were who we are. Like… why? What does that even mean?"
"Mar’i…." Kyle moans, looking over at her again, his face pained before he sighs and looks back at Mia. His expression is wry. “I gotta say, it’s freaky just /how/ much you guys have done. And I know why, now. I know what you want. And if you try to kill me or, or shut me up…" Kyle looks over at Mar’i again. “Well. I’d like to think she’d stop you, if you tried. I hope she does. But honestly, I don’t think you want us to die."
"How much we’ve done what?" Stares at him a moment blinking almost in shock, “What? What are you even talking about? Of course I don’t want you to die! I’m not going to try to kill you! Jesus Kyle, what the hell? What is it do you even think I want? I just… want to know why you don’t think we are who we are because I… I mean…" Huffs loudly and stomps her foot down. “Stop babbling." She’s pretty sure she’s talking to him but who even knows.
"No, I’m not gonna explain anything to you, jesus! I —" Kyle stops short, looking curiously at Mia. “What do you remember, exactly? What were you doing before you got to this place, this town with all the weird logos?"
"You mean before we all ended up in the pool? I was… watching the walking dead marathon with Rose? Eating cookies. Then I went to bed? I guess." Shrugs her shoulders. “Kyle I just want to know why you don’t think we are who we are. Because I’m pretty sure I’m me. I know I’m me. But I… just… don’t really feel…"
"Hey, MIA!"
Mia looks over at Roy as he hollers at her from where he’s standing with Mar’i and glares, “What?! Jesus!"
Kyle jumps when Roy hollers.
"Where’d Ollie stash the bows?"
"They’re near the longhouse!"
Roy hollers back: “Cool!"
Kyle thins his eyes at Mia and rounds on her. “You don’t feel what? You don’t feel /what/??"
Mia rolls her eyes at Roy and turns back to Kyle watching him and furrowing her eyebrows. “I don’t… feel like I usually do. I could tell when we got here that something was wrong… or I don’t know if -wrong- is the right word I would use. But I… I don’t know." She’s speaking quicker now looking pretty confused. “And at first I thought it was because I didn’t have my medication with me but that’s not it because that’d make me feel worse I know that much. But I don’t feel worse. I don’t feel bad -at all-. I mean you have this thing inside you for years and you know what it feels like and when it’s gone you can just tell. And I can tell." She stares at Kyle for a moment with a shrug. “I mean Here… Where ever we are. I don’t think I’m sick here. I don’t think I have HIV anymore."
Kyle is quite possibly the worst person atm for sweet Mia say this to, because all Kyle does is look triumphant and point at her. “A-HA! You see? You’re not Mia. You’re /not/ Mia. There is a fault in the programming or, or the shapeshift or, or, or transmute or WHATEVER the hell it is that you did to become this. And the thing is you don’t even /know/ what you are. Yeah, you don’t even /know/. You think you’re Mia!" Kyle holds his hair back from his forehead, looking down at her, half-grinning. “Figure it out, you are not Mia Dearden. You’re something else."
"Kyle! Shut up! Good lord!" Glares at him and resists the urge to kick him or something. “IF I wasn’t me then why would I be here talking to you ASKING you about this? That’s stupid! Unless you want to keep sharing crazy theories because I’ve watched a lot of TV in my day, not to mention all the crazy shit I’ve dealt with as a superhero and I’m pretty sure I can come up with some of them myself."
"Not everything is related to TV, Mia!!" He shouts it back and then stops himself, staggering back a few steps until he stumbles and falls, onto his butt. Kyle slowly lifts up his right hand, trying to ignore Mia and he looks at his ring. “Work. Ring work. Work for me. Work, work. Work dammit. WORK, YOU STUPID USELESS PIECE OF —" Kyle takes off his ring and scrambles back up, facing the forest and taking a running swing at flinging it. For once, his throwing arm is on point and the ring goes sailing in the air, disappearing in the trees. An owl flies out of the forest, into the sky.
Mia watches him with that sympathetic/you’re weird look on her face again and looks shocked when he throws his ring into the woods. “Kyle what the fuck!? What are you going to do when we finally find a way to get out of here?" She looks as if she wants to go running after it and maybe even took a step or two that way but stopped herself because all the weird things people have been saying about the woods.
"Don’t go in the forest, it’s dangero—" he says to her instinctively, breathing heavily from his exertion, until he realizes - REMEMBERS - she isn’t Mia. “You’re not Mia. Stop fucking with my head, you’re NOT MIA! It was useless, it was a useless piece of jewelry that cuts people instead of helping them and you - you and this place! Because this place - oh god - THIS PLACE- WHERE IS —" Kyle breaks into a run, heading towards the entrance to bungalow where Mia and the rest of her Arrow family sleep. “Mar’i? Mar’i!"
Mia frowns and watches him in confusing shaking her head a little bit because what. Looks almost shocked when he runs off and blinks a few times before following, though slower giving space between them because he looks like he’s kind of anguished about all this and she really didn’t -MEAN- to make things… worse or anything. She just wanted to know why he didn’t think they were real and… maybe it did have something to do with the fact she didn’t have HIV anymore.
Kyle heads into the bungalow, and turns to see Mia following. “I’m sorry. I’m…" he faces her, backing up into Mar’i and Roy’s room. He keeps speaking. “If you really are Mia, if all of you are real, then I’m sorry. But I don’t believe you are, you can’t be. There’s no reason for you to be real when I - when we, me and Bruce - were the ones who caused this. The three of us caused this, not you guys. And even if you don’t /know/ you’re not Mia, if you’re Something - I’m still sorry, because you don’t seem evil, but I don’t know. I can’t trust you. I don’t know." He reaches the closet and steps into it, closing himself off from her and the rest of the world.
Mia furrows her eyebrows as he speaks and watches him back into the closet and gives him a sad look before he closes the door. She stands there for a moment, “I don’t know what you did, Kyle. Or what you think you guys did. But I’m sorry you’re having to… deal with whatever you’re having to deal with, too." she turns and heads out of the bungalow closing the door behind her heading off… anywhere and debates whether or not now is a good time to take up drinking or not.
"Thanks," Kyle says from his closet, feeling the darkness envelop him, just like it did in the HSR. He finds he really does mean it, his gratitude to whatever that Mia-thing says to him. She really means it too, it seems. Even if it’s not Mia. It can’t be Mia. He resolves to take a nap, and then go see Bruce. Awake or not, he had to at least see that Bruce was real.
