a sickness
Ugh. She couldn’t be sick. Not now.
There was too much going on. And she didn’t want to be told to go lay down because she was obviously not feeling well. God, you’d think Connor was her mother sometimes. What if they found Roy? And… like… left to deal with that without her? She didn’t want to be left out of that.
Mia groaned and turned over on the bed burying her face in her pillow and closing her eyes tightly because christ, what the hell was wrong? She felt like shit. This sucked.
She fidgeted on the bed restlessly for quite a while hovering somewhere between sleeping and awake.
The blonde sat up quickly in her bed in a cold sweat. She looked around her room with wide eyes, knowing she just woke up from a bad dream but… whatever had happened was already slipping away from her. Something about Ollie being attacked or… was it Roy? No, that wasn’t right.
Mia pulled her covers off and slid out of bed turning on the lap next to her bed.
But… something was off. She narrowed her blue eyes and looked around her room. “Hm…” Oh well.
Next thing she was pushing open her door slipping and almost falling. “What…” Mia squinted into the darkness seeing thick dark liquid covering the floor. The more she looked the more there was, on the floor, the walls, the ceiling, the bookshelf sitting at the end of the hallway. It didn’t take a genius to realize it was blood.
“Ollie?” Mia called heading through the dark hallway careful not to slip on any more blood. She practically jumped out of her skin when she heard a bark holding her hand to her chest and watching the shadowy form of Kiki trotting towards her. “Jesus Christ, Kiki.” The dog whined and seemed like she was attempting to guide Mia back towards her room but the blonde ignored her.
Finally out of the hallway that seemed like a mile long for some reason. She looked around the large open living room, there was blood and burns and it was even worse out there. “… Ollie?”
“Hey, Honeybunch.”
Mia spun around practically crashing into Oliver. She backed up a few steps hearing Kiki growling low in her throat.
Mia took a step back her eyes widening as she looked up at Ollie covered in blood with a horrible grin on his face. Or maybe he wasn’t grinning. Maybe he was just baring his teeth. “Ollie!” Mia gasped and took another step back, trying to find a way to get to the utility closet, trying to find a way to get to her bow.
“No need to keep backing away.” Ollie said grabbing her shoulders and squeezing hard.
The blonde girl grunted and tried to pull away, but Ollie held on. “Ow.” That was apparently all Kiki needed to hear as she jumped up and latched onto Oliver’s arm with her teeth. The larger man howled in pain but let Mia go. But not sure exactly why, instead of running to the utility closet she ran back to her room slipping on the floor.
“Fuck…” she muttered getting back up and looking around. What the hell was she supposed to do.
Fuck, fuck, fuck… Mia ran to her bathroom throwing the door open and taking a right into her closet. She was getting blood all over the floor, she knew this. That would be good. She grabbed two of her shirts tying them around her feet and hopping over the blood trails she had left on the floor.
She made it back to her bed sliding under it.
It was a bad place to hide, but all she needed to do was get to the door out to the terrace. She could… head around the apartment. Get to the utility closet or the front door. But she heard Oliver’s heavy footsteps walking too close. There was another growl from Kiki and a loud yelp that followed.
Mia bit down on her bottom lip and huddled under the bed quietly as the door to her bedroom opened.
“I know you’re in here, honeybunch. You can’t hide from a hunter.”
Please, please, please just go into her closet and look around. Please. Please… Mia watched Oliver’s feet from under the bed as they disappeared out of the room. As quickly and as quietly as she could she ran to the door heading out to the balcony from her room and looked around. It was dark out, all the outdoor lights that usually turned on when someone walked outside seemed to be out. So she squinted into the dark and were those… bodies?
Mia couldn’t tell but they prevented her from going to any of the other doors leading inside. Instead she went over to the pool doing her best to quietly lower herself in, staying close against the wall and taking a deep breath ducking her head under the water.
It was strangely easy to sit there holding her breath and praying to whatever higher power could help her. Hell, she’d honestly take whatever lower power could help her.
It didn’t help as Mia was suddenly grabbed by the neck and yanked out of the pool and threw her hard on the concrete. “Ollie!” Mia shouted kicking up her legs and kicking him in the stomach though that made him flinch and little else. “Stop!”
“I can’t.”
“Please!” Oliver grabbed her throat squeezing it tightly. “Why are you doing this?” Mia gasped out.
Through the blood, and the violence, Ollie sent her a look like she should know. “I have to. I can’t have this go bad. I can’t have you hate me.” Mia shook her head looking up at Oliver through watery eyes her grip on his wrist weakening. “Shh. Just close your eyes and go to sleep… Everything is going to be ok.”

Mia gasped for air as she sat up looking around the rundown hotel room. A few more breaths and she felt herself start to calm down. She couldn’t help but jump though as someone came through the door.
“Are you still in bed?”
“No, Richard.” Mia said quickly rolling out of the bed and gathering up her clothes.
“Hurry your skinny ass up, Mama Mia. You have three more guys who have paid good money to see you tonight.”
She nodded her head pulling on her dress and making her way towards the bathroom, Richard swatting at her ass as she passed. Though when Mia opened the door she clung onto the side of it looking down into nothing but blackness. “Oh my god.”
“Well get ready.”
Mia looked over her shoulder at Richard then back into where the bathroom was supposed to be. “But I can’t.”
“Are you back talking again, Mia?”
“No!” Mia said turning around to look at him. “I just can’t!” Richard stepped closer to her making her back up feeling the edge of her heel hanging over the black pit. He grabbed her face and the blonde cringed. “I’ll get hurt!”
Richard’s expression turned to an amused one but he loosened his grip on Mia’s chin. “Don’t worry, baby. I won’t ever let anyone hurt you.”
He pulled her closer and kissed her as his free hand traveled down to her ass again, pinching way too hard like he always did. When he let her go Richard pushed her towards the doorway. “Stop!” Mia said holding her hands out on either side of the wall.
“Stop fighting me!”
“Richard! Wait! I can’t—” Her hands finally slipped off the sides of the wall and Mia found herself tumbling over backwards into the darkness.

The blonde flailed around grabbing onto the sides of the bathtub she must have fallen asleep in and she pulled herself up coughing up the water that she had accidentally inhaled. She gasped for air and her eyes shot towards the door as she heard foot steps on the other side then a sharp knock which made her grip the side of the tub tighter.
“You fall asleep in there, baby girl? Need some help?”
Mia clenched her eyes closed tightly and shook her head. “No, daddy! I’m fine.” She listened closely waiting for him to walk away again, thankfully the phone rang and Mia let out a sigh of relief as he headed back down the hall.
She pulled herself out of the tub and looked in the mirror watching it crack and break, like that was something normal that happened. But the young girl jumped violently when the door to the bathroom slammed open and her father glared down at her.
“Daddy!” She shouted trying to grab her towel but he yanked it away from her and pushed her towards the tub roughly causing her to fall over, her shoulder colliding roughly with the side. “Wha—?”
“You want to tell me why I’m getting calls from your school?” He asked falling to his knees beside her and grabbing the back of her neck forcing her to look at him. “I thought I made you promise to keep our secret! Who have you been talking to?”
Mia looked at him scared and confused and shook her head. “No one! Daddy I swear! I haven’t—”
She was silenced when he hit her head face first against the side of the tub. Mia let out a sob feeling a few of her teeth coming loose in her mouth. “Don’t lie to me, Mia.”
“I didn’t— I’m not! Please!” She tried to push herself up but she slipped into the water of the tub. When Mia tried to struggle out she felt her father holding her head down. She sobbed more trying to push herself up on the sides but slipping back down.
And her dad was yelling at her still, though she couldn’t hear anything, just the pounding in her head. The pounding that got fainter and fainter…

“Mia?”
Mia’s eyes opened and she looked around now back in the Watchtower room she had fallen asleep in and she sat up seeing one of the medical staff standing there. “Your brother wanted me to give you some water. Are you ok? You looked like you were having a pretty bad nightmare.”
“Yeah.” Mia said blinking, the images of her dreams still burned into her mind. “I’m fine…” She took the water and forced a smile onto her face.
She waited for the woman to leave the room before she rolled out of the bed grabbing the waste basket and throwing up. Ugh. What the fuck was wrong with her? All she really knew was that… she was going to try not to go back to sleep.
That was honestly the last thing she needed.
